Do you love spending time outdoors? Do you care about Idaho wildlife? Would you like to do something to make things better for the animals that wander, fly and swim in our great state?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you should consider becoming a Fish and Game volunteer. It's a great opportunity to work outdoors, have fun, and make a real difference for Idaho wildlife.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game's Volunteer Program offers people of all ages the opportunity to get involved with projects that benefit wildlife and habitat. Without volunteers, many important projects cannot happen. With your help, they can evolve from mere wishful thinking into tangible benefits for wildlife and people.
Idaho Wildlife Reservists serve as uniformed volunteers who represent the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. Like volunteers, reservists contribute their time, energy and expertise on a variety of projects every year, many of which would not be accomplished otherwise.
Volunteer/Reservist projects include: restoring wildlife habitat, guiding tours at nature centers, collecting native seeds, surveying sage grouse leks, counting big horn sheep, conducting angler surveys, mountain lake fish stocking, building and maintaining fences, docks, bird nest boxes and interpretive areas, monitoring migrating raptors, songbirds and owls, staffing wildlife check stations, cleaning up access areas, teaching children how to fish and much, much more!
As you donate your skills, labor and expertise, you'll discover a new sense of ownership in Idaho's wildlife resources, learn about the needs of wild creatures and meet people who share your interests. Working together we can accomplish a lot, for today and for tomorrow.
